New Hampshire Makes History By Making it Illegal to Pay People Less than Minimum Wage

You may have read that title and thought “Wait a minute, isn’t a legally enforced minimum pay rate the point of Minimum Wage?”

Or maybe even, “Hmm…there’s a MediSked logo on this page – but surely this must be an Onion article.”

It does sound rather ridiculous, doesn’t it?

So ridiculous in fact, that I got a little bit worked up sitting down to write this post.

My original title was similar to many other news outlets’ stories:  “New Hampshire Just Made It Illegal to Pay People with Disabilities Less than Minimum Wage”. Then I thought about it.

4 RIT Students Design a Wheelchair Swing for the Local Arc. Joy Ensues.

Here at MediSked we have a special place in our hearts for the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Our company was founded by two RIT grad students, much of our tech ops team has come out of RIT, and a couple of the folks in our Rochester office are actually still students there.

It’s a phenomenal school and we’re incredibly proud of our affiliation(s).

We’re also incredibly proud of Team P15010, a group of four engineering students in RIT’s senior design program. They’ve spent the better part of the last year building an awesome (and impressive) wheelchair swing for the Arc of Monroe County.

Infographic: Florida's iBudget Crisis By the Numbers

Since 2003, the average cost of living in the United States has gone up about 28%. The Minimum Wage in Florida has increased from $5.15 per hour in 2003 to $8.05 today. 

Yet, Florida's iBudget Waiver reimbursement rates for the providers offering essential supports and services are on average 14.17% lower today than they were IN 2003! 

Forgive my bold font, but that's absurd!
