4 Reasons why an Agency Management Platform is better than an EHR

We have a saying around MediSked that goes:
"We don't have patience for software that calls people patients."
Too often we see provider agencies evaluating medical or clinical software to implement as their agency wide solution for electronic records.  In almost every case, a provider that implements a clinical EHR to manage their electronic records, workflows, and billing is regretting that choice later on.  You don't provide medical services, or in some cases, even behavorial health services, so why look at software that is certified for managing those types of services?  You shouldn't and here's 4 reasons why.

The 6 Myths Around Human Services Software

Posted by Mike Holihan on Thu, Feb 27, 2014 @ 08:53 AM

We recently published our latest e-report, entitled "The Top 6 Myths Regarding Software for Human Service Agencies."  In this e-report, we review the most commonly held "myths" that we hear from provider agencies across the country around human services software.  While this is not to say that providers' fears around purchasing software aren't valid, this report aims to eliminate some falsities that exist about software for this space.  I had fun putting together this report as we gathered people from different departments inside of MediSked to brainstorm the myths that are heard most often.  And just like myths of Bigfoot or unicorns, the more they are passed around word of mouth, the more they spread.  There's probably some myths listed that you thought were unique to your region of the country.  We can tell you firsthand, most times these myths are prevelant everywhere!  Below is a summary of the first three myths in the report, but I definitely encourage you to download the entire report and share it with others.

Posted by Mike Holihan on Thu, Feb 20, 2014 @ 08:56 AM

Here at MediSked, we really love the billing department at agencies.  They remind me of an episode of Seinfeld, where Jerry's postal service carrier - neighbor Newman complains one day that the mail never stops... it just keeps coming and coming! We understand what it's like to always have claims coming and matching them up to documentation and submitting each one by hand and organizing them so when the 835s come back you know how to match them up and reconcile if necessary.  The fact that you have to post to a G/L system (usually Quickbooks or Sage), bill to a different system and track service documentation by hand or with a third system! Whew!! It's not easy and your work usually doesn't get enough credit or exposure in agencies - so we say, Bravo! You do a lot!  The blog today is focused around how MediSked Connect eliminates the double entry, juggling different systems and really makes your whole process much more streamlined.  Here's more:
