April is Autism Awareness Month and yesterday, April 3rd, was World Autism Awareness Day.

Buildings and people all over the globe lit it up blue to show their support. Landmarks like the Old Parliament House in Australia, the Heritage Himeji Castle in China, and the Empire State Building in NYC were bathed in blue lights. Entire offices of people (including most of ours) wore blue clothing. Articles were published. Newscasts were broadcasted.

If there is someone out there who wasn't aware of autism and its prevalence before yesterday, they might just be aware of it now. And that's a very positive thing. People need to be aware of autism before we can expect them to empathize, understand, or take action. 

Still, I can't help but think that we can (and should) use this month to do more. To do better. To take it to another level.
