Google Wants to Create 'Universal Access for People with Disabilities' & They Need Your Help

Posted by Elizabeth Chatterton on Wed, May 27, 2015 @ 11:52 AM

According to the popular tech blog engadget.com, Google has announced that it is funding a $20 million grant for its latest Impact Challenge, which is aimed at making the world more accessible for those with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Specifically, the new Google Impact: Disabilities program seeks to "build awareness, identify solutions and help create universal access for people with disabilities."

They have already successfully teamed up with non-profit startups like Mission Arm, E-Nable and World Wide Hearing, and are looking to fund even more solutions - to the tune of $20 million.

And they're asking for help from people on both sides of the issue to help them do it - people (or those whose family are) living with a disability as well as innovators, inventors and tinkerers.

New Hampshire Makes History By Making it Illegal to Pay People Less than Minimum Wage

Posted by Elizabeth Chatterton on Tue, May 19, 2015 @ 01:00 PM

4 RIT Students Design a Wheelchair Swing for the Local Arc. Joy Ensues.

Posted by Elizabeth Chatterton on Wed, May 13, 2015 @ 09:26 AM

Here at MediSked we have a special place in our hearts for the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Our company was founded by two RIT grad students, much of our tech ops team has come out of RIT, and a couple of the folks in our Rochester office are actually still students there.

It’s a phenomenal school and we’re incredibly proud of our affiliation(s).

We’re also incredibly proud of Team P15010, a group of four engineering students in RIT’s senior design program. They’ve spent the better part of the last year building an awesome (and impressive) wheelchair swing for the Arc of Monroe County.

Infographic: Florida's iBudget Crisis By the Numbers

Posted by Elizabeth Chatterton on Tue, May 12, 2015 @ 01:59 PM

Since 2003, the average cost of living in the United States has gone up about 28%. The Minimum Wage in Florida has increased from $5.15 per hour in 2003 to $8.05 today.

Yet, Florida's iBudget Waiver reimbursement rates for the providers offering essential supports and services are on average 14.17% lower today than they were IN 2003!

Forgive my bold font, but that's absurd!
