Ireland Leads the World in Research on the ID Population and Aging

Today is St. Patrick's Day and I wanted to find a cute, inspiring story with ties to Ireland to share. But when I started searching for something warm, fuzzy, and Irish -  what I ended up finding was far more profound. 

Last year, Trinity College in Dublin performed a study called Advancing Years, Different Challenges to highlight the serious, complex and often times unique challenges facing Ireland’s intellectual disability population as they age.

Because these individuals are aging. And a lot of them are aging - all at once.

2 Weeks Old & Changing the World: Baby Leo Brings Awareness to Armenia's Archaic Views on Down Syndrome

If you’ve opened an Internet browser in the last day or so, chances are you’ve seen the story of Samuel Forrest and his sweet baby boy Leo.

Forrest is originally from Auckland, New Zealand but currently lives in Armenia where he and his wife were happily anticipating the birth of their first child.

On January 21st baby Leo arrived and much to everyone’s surprise, he was born with Down Syndrome.

Encouraging An Entrepreneurial Spirit in the ID/DD Workforce

In our January gathering, one of the hot topics was self-employment and the rise of entrepreneurism in the ID/DD community.
